Hey everyone.
This week has been a week of ups and downs. After the death of my grandad, we managed to get to his funeral this week. There were many precautions in place with the current Covid-19 regulations but I am very grateful that I managed to go and say my goodbyes at a beautiful outdoor service. Not being able to hug your family was something I found very difficult but at least I managed to see them all and show my respects. Needless to say, I had a very large glass of wine that night and it was raised to my grandad. As I mentioned in a previous post, I live a couple of hours drive away from my family which meant that although the service was short, it was a long day. When I returned home, I found that my mother-in-law had left me a little surprise to cheer me up. Where my family live, there is a particularly traditional dish which normally would be a crime to avoid when visiting. Obviously, with the current laws in place, it was not possible to uphold the tradition. However, this particular dish was waiting for me when I got home, along with a dessert AND a bottle of wine!
We decided that this week we deserved a bit of a treat in our household. During lockdown we have missed a holiday, a music concert, my daughter’s school trip to France, a couple of nights away and most importantly my 30th birthday, so we felt like a treat was definitely in order. For a little while, I have had my eye on a new coffee machine and my other half has been eyeing up a new TV. So, we finally committed to buying them and they have both now arrived. My excitement levels as the DPD van drove painfully slowly around his other deliveries was admittedly a little ridiculous. But the moment he had dropped the box on the doorstep, I snapped it up and was setting it up in the kitchen before he had left the driveway. I am mega over the top fussy when it comes to coffee, so this machine has been an absolute miracle. So, here it is… my new baby!
And, of course, the new TV. Which is being expertly modelled in this enormous box by my darling daughter…
The sun finally came back again this week, if only briefly. During lockdown I have achieved two things; publishing my first book and bringing the grass in my garden back to life. Both achievements were equally difficult. I still do not want to share any pictures of the garden while we await the work to begin which has been delayed a little. However, I will share this little snap of three of my furry potatoes after the rain had prevented them from stretching their legs for a few days. We brought them inside for a little run around time. Naturally, they did not run once because lettuce if life.
With the rain and the cloudy skies came some beautiful sunsets. I managed to snap a shot of my favourite one from the week. My phone did not do it justice but I couldn’t resist taking the photo anyway.
If it wasn’t for the rubbish weather, I would have seen two sunrises this week too. After starting the week on a bit of a writing lull, by the end of week I was back in full swing. I am very, VERY pleased to announce that I am now 86,000 words into book two. Last night (or this morning), I dragged myself away from the laptop at 2.30am after completing chapter 32. Chapter 33 is where the magic begins because it is the beginning of the end. I am about to write some of my most exciting chapters ever (in my own opinion) and my first draft is finally coming to an end. I have had some amazing feedback over the last couple of weeks. A few more reviews appeared on Amazon and I cannot stress how hugely grateful I am to everyone who has left a review. Anticipation is beginning to build for book 2 and I find it unbelievably exciting! So, for anyone who is looking forward to book 2, I have some exciting news… the pre-order date will be released within the next 2 weeks along with the official cover!
I would love to hear some predictions for what might happen in book 2, so if you have any, drop them in a comment at the bottom of the page! I want to hear your thoughts!
Stay safe, always.
