The end…

Well, it is official… I have written the ending of book 2. There are just two more chapters for me to finish off, which I will be doing tonight, and then the editing begins. That, of course, also means that the pre-order date will be announced in the next couple of days, as well as the cover! Hunted is on its way!
I had a bit of a moment on Friday morning at 2.20am as I finished the final scenes, scenes I had been picturing in my head since before I started writing Gifted, 7 long years ago. I always knew how easy it was to lose yourself in a good book (finishing Harry Potter, Twilight and the Hunger Games quite literally left me broken hearted for weeks) but I was not prepared for how easy it would be to lose myself in a story I was creating. There were a couple of chapters which almost brought a tear to my eye as I was writing them and while I am very tempted to share a little secret about which ones they were, I think I’ll leave that for you to figure out when you read them for yourselves. When I finished the last word in chapter 51, I leaned back in my chair and just stayed there silent for a minute. I was thinking my way through the story and all of the characters and I felt a little bit proud of myself. And then it hit me… all of my characters won’t exist anymore. They will have no more adventures and the places I imagined will be gone. And there’s only one way to fix it… PREQUEL!!!
Anyway, keep watching the blog for the release date and the new cover. I can’t wait to show you!

I quickly recovered from Friday morning’s sadness with Friday night’s karaoke and drinks with the neighbours. I am yet to find the courage to look through the numerous videos on my camera roll (someone should really confiscate my phone before the wine kicks in) but as far as I am concerned, we smashed it on the karaoke! I also discovered my new favourite drink! The entire week has been fuelled by coffee from the shiny new coffee machine, and Friday night was no different after I was introduced to espresso martinis. What a game changer! We also created our own little spin on the classic by adding salted caramel irish cream. We named it a Christmas espresso martini and if you even decide to try it, well, you’re welcome.

The last week seems to have flown by, probably with the looming return-to-work date fast approaching. I am ready for a bit of normality to return… sort of. Work on the garden finally began this week, which is crazy exciting! So, I can now start to show you some pictures of my uninspiring outdoor space. The first pictures are after phase 1 – moving the furry potatoes and attempting to bring the grass back to life. There’s also a little glimpse of my dad there too.

Then the sleepers FINALLY arrived! Yay!

And then these pictures are after the completion of phase 2 – building the planters.

The next step will be filling the planters and laying the patio which is not likely to happen for a couple of weeks while we wait for the slabs to arrive from India. Oh, and the furniture. And then I will finally have my little outdoor space to write, sunbathe and drink wine, thanks for my wonderful dad.

It was my brother’s half-lockdown birthday this week. Here’s a little snap of us together when we were sweet and innocent. I must say, 90’s decor at its finest with the beautiful sofa and those outfits. I won’t put the other picture I shared to his facebook on my blog. My little brother preferred the natural look when we were kids, it was rare to find him with clothes on. Come to think of it, he hasn’t actually changed.

For those of you who were celebrating Father’s day this week, I hope that you managed to see your loved ones. It has been a tough few weeks but we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, I hope.

Happy Monday. As always, stay safe. And look after each other as we approach the new way of a working life.

Love Love xx
