Hellooooo you beautiful people.
It has been an absolute scorcher of a week! And in true British style, I have complained about it plenty. I also complained after the first day of rain, because as a Brit, I will never be happy with the weather… ever. I was really looking forward to the thunderstorms which never arrived, instead they were replaced with more heat. Which was great. Now that I have finally discovered that I will be going back to work on Friday (yay!) the weather has decided it will rain solidly until then. Because of course it will. I ordered and received my new garden furniture, I spent 6 hours building it and I can no longer feel my thumb or index finger thanks to the wonderful creation that was the allen key, and now that it is in the garden, rain. Nothing but rain and darkness for a week. Fantastic.
So, I probably should have started this post with an apology. This post is coming to you a day later than usual (a sign of things to come with working life returning to normal). After spending six hours building garden furniture yesterday, I was ready for a strong gin and then my bed. Coupled with the fact that I didn’t really get up to much in the last week, I figured the blog would be able to wait an extra day. Now that I am writing my post, I’m thinking I should have just done it yesterday as today was an even more exhausting day. I did some actual hard labour today, like, get your hands dirty and spend the evening in physical pain kind of hard labour. With the help of my wonderful mum, together we dug up her front garden, filled countless wheelbarrows with soil, rolled them down the street (including up a little incline, I would just like to add) and poured the soil into my new planters. We then went shopping for plants and came home again to plant them. In total, we spend seven hours in our gardens covered in mud. And surprise surprise… it rained too! So, again, I have a very strong gin by my side and I spent a very long time in the shower getting the dirt out from under my nails. I will 100% be ready for bed tonight.
All that time in the garden means that phase 3 and 4 are now complete. I have furniture and the planters are looking lush. We are now just waiting on the patio slabs to arrive from India before we have them put in place and then we can add the finishing touches. I cannot wait to be sipping wine and writing from the comfort of my garden. Without further delay, here are the pictures of my garden taken the very second we finished planting. The pictures do not do it justice but I will upload some more when it is all finished.
In other news this week, I had a coffee date with the bestie. This beautiful little bundle of perfection came with her and we got to see how close he is to crawling. He can also now stick his butt in the air while on his hands and feet and it is super cute.
The weather was so good earlier in the week that it became a battle against the heat with the furry potatoes. Here’s Trixie, George and Sissy demonstrating how one must always lie down when consuming treats on warm days.
Because we are all getting old, it was my boy’s 30th birthday this week. If you have read my book and you made it on to the acknowledgements page, you will have found Cal’s name. Here is your chance to put a face to the name… This is us when we were young and beautiful (we are STILL young and beautiful, just saying).
And finally, the obvious highlight of the week had to be the pre-release of Hunted! As well as announcing that the pre-order is now live, I also released the cover, which I am particularly pleased with. While I had originally planned for the cover to be very similar to Gifted, at the last minute I had a change of heart. When you do read Hunted, the meaning behind the cover will become clear, although, I would love to hear some guesses as to what the rose might symbolise. Leave me a comment at the bottom of the page!
You can pre-order Hunted on Kindle by clicking here. The paperback will also be released on the same day but it will not be available for pre-order.
After this week I am going to continue to do my best with blog posts. Like I mentioned earlier, I will be going back to work this week and I will also be in top editing mode with Hunted being so close to the release day, so keeping up with the blog too might be challenging. Thank you to everyone who has stuck with my blog over the past few weeks, I really do love hearing your feedback!
Stay safe.
