Hey there, I’m Louisa.
I am the author of Gifted. Gifted is my first book. It took me six long years after writing it to finally consider publishing. And now, here I am, at the beginning of this new and exciting journey of getting my name and my work out there.
So, here’s a little about me… I live in Yorkshire with my fiancé and our teenage daughter. We have a cat called Tilly, and five guinea pigs called George, Bobby, Guinea Mc’Pig Face, Sissy and Trixie. I love animals! If it wasn’t for my better half, I would likely have an entire menagerie of them. Writing is not my day job just yet, I currently work in hospitality as a deputy hotel manager. It’s hard work and demanding at times, but I work with the best bunch of people who are all equally as crazy as I am. You have to be a little crazy to work in hospitality.
I love reading, obviously. My genre tends to be young adult fiction but I will give just about anything a go. As well as reading, I love to bake. Mostly, I enjoy the decorating (and the eating) side of baking. I haven’t had a complaint yet about my baked goods, so I must be doing something right! But I’m not likely to get any bad comments because I only bake for the family. My baking could actually be terrible and everyone is just too polite to tell me. My final hobby is crafting. I have a particular flare for making wax melts at the moment but I have been known to dabble in card making, candle decorating, scrapbooking and gift making. Basically, I love to be kept busy. My worst nightmare is having nothing to do!
My writing story…
When I first started writing, I worked in Primary Education. I would work throughout the day and write throughout the night. One of the first people I spoke to about my dreams of becoming an author was a teacher at the school. She told me that my name would look great on the cover of a book, and I might be a little biased, but I do think it looks pretty good.
When I write, I like to have a glass (or two) of wine and listen to music, that is where I find my inspiration. If I ever find myself struggling to write, I play a bit of Imagine Dragons, pour a glass of wine and wait for the creative juices to flow. A glass of wine, a laptop and a good Imagine Dragons song is all I need to be in my happy place.
If you have stumbled across my blog and you are reading this now, I hope you will give my book a go, and I hope that you thoroughly enjoy it! I plan to write many more. If you have already read my book, I am truly grateful to you. You are helping me to live my dream of becoming a best-selling author. I rely heavily on your reviews and feedback, so if you have something to share then please do! I love to hear your thoughts and feelings.
Love to you all x
